Paul Allen donates $100 million for ‘frontiers of bioscience’ research

Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist Paul Allen has announced a $100 million commitment over 10 years to fund bioscience endeavors. Initial grants will go to Stanford and Tufts universities to create new research centers and to individual scientists.

 

Allen realized that bioscience is at a critical point, with technology able to take the field in a more quantitative direction than ever before. He explained that his goal is to help facilitate a more interdisciplinary approach by giving scientists the equipment, staff and connections they need for their work to reach its full potential.
