Record Biotech IPO May Be Worth the $7 Billion
The biggest biotech IPO on record is coming soon! Moderna Therapeutics filed a registration statement with the SEC last week to raise up to $500M. The company is valued at about $7B, and the offering will likely take place before the end of the year.
Moderna’s price is driven by its promising mRNA approach to developing medicines, which is designed to trigger cells to prevent or fight disease. Their price gets a further boost from the company’s blue-chip investors like AstraZeneca, Merck & Co. and Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
