A global specialty pharmaceutical company located in Princeton, NJ was looking to expand their corporate development team with a Senior Director of Corporate Development. This client, who develops and manufactures enhanced pharmaceutical products, needed help filling this new role because they had very specific requirements of the candidate in order to fit their needs. The client required the candidate to have a minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical industry commercial execution experience in both sales and marketing roles. Finding a professional with this perfect mix of commercial, marketing, and sales experience along with a business development, licensing, and corporate development background is difficult, which is why the client turned to an experienced recruiting firm to take on the search. The Ashton Tweed team kicked off the search by researching qualified candidates with this unique and varied background. With their extensive resources, they targeted 520 qualified professionals and then narrowed down the candidate pool to just 17 candidates who had the right background and were willing to accommodate up to 50% travel, which the job description also required. From there, the client narrowed the list down to just 3 candidates that they were interested in and thought would be the best culture fit for their company. By process of elimination, they ended up hiring the third candidate they interviewed, who was the best by far.

The hired candidate was a results-driven business development professional with extensive experience and a proven record of success in managing complex deals and relationships in the pharmaceutical industry. This experience included 8 years in global business development and licensing and 7 years in strategy, marketing, and global brand management. This individual had the desired background and proved to have the hands-on attitude that the client knew was vital to their company’s business.
