Europe takes a page from the FDA with new speedy approval program

European drug regulators launched a new program to speed up the development of drugs for underserved diseases, similar to the FDA’s breakthrough therapy program.

Called Priority Medicines, or PRIME, the European Medicines Agency’s new effort will select innovative R&D projects and enroll them into a program that gives drug developers early and frequent access to regulators. The idea is to increase the odds of clinical success by providing feedback at each stage of development.
