Johnson & Johnson CEO Alex Gorsky leaves Trump council as president breaks it up

Johnson & Johnson CEO Alex Gorsky decided to leave President Trump’s manufacturing council. The decision came about the same time Trump ended the panel. Both actions follow Merck CEO Ken Frazier’s move to leave the group after the president’s weak response to the recent deadly violence in Charlottesville, VA. Several other business leaders also left.

 

Gorsky originally committed to remaining on the panel to stay involved with policy discussions. But that changed after the president’s press conference, which set off another backlash. Just before Gorsky issued his statement, President Trump tweeted that he’s putting an end to the council.
