Advice: Be resourceful.

David’s company was having difficulties with the FDA. When he learned the director of the division they had to deal with had retired, David contacted him and convinced him to become part of their team. He taught David’s company how to communicate with the FDA about their technology. In the end, they won the agency’s approval.

Advice: Communicate constantly.

When Cheryl launched a new venture for her last job, she had to create an execution strategy from scratch. The key was constant, open communication to all stakeholders. When she was finally launching products, Cheryl was able to convince a skeptical sales force. She learned to be sincere and to communicate the good and the bad.
