It’s Not Just You: FDA Regulatory Requirements Really Are Increasing

Regulatory work in the U.S. is notoriously tough. Professionals have to know thousands of regulations in addition to having scientific knowledge. And new data shows that their jobs are getting increasingly difficult. According to data from George Mason University, the number of regulatory requirements enforced by the FDA increased by 15% from 2000 to 2012.

 

Regulatory professionals who needed to know 16,329 requirements in 2000, needed to know 18,777 in 2012. Fortunately, changes are specific to different areas of expertise such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and biological products. It is rare for a regulatory professional to deal with every regulated area.
