J&J, Pfizer, Merck sit atop Fortune’s 500 for pharma
J&J, Pfizer and Merck top Fortune’s 500 for the pharma industry, but large drug wholesalers & pharmacy benefit managers beat them easily.
In 2017’s Fortune 500 list, which identifies companies that have generated the most money during the previous year, J&J placed 35th, leading drugmakers with its $71.9B in revenues. Pfizer placed 54th with $52.8B and Merck placed 69th with $39.8B.
However, these incomes pale in comparison to other healthcare providers and distributors. McKesson ranked 5th with $192B in revenues. UnitedHealth, CVS Health and Express Scripts also made the top 25.
