Number of female biotech CEOs remains ‘shockingly low,’ putting spotlight on BIO

Female CEOs remain exceedingly rare in the drug industry, accounting for less than 10% of biotech’s top leaders. A recent BioPharma Dive analysis of 180 leading biotechs found that just 15 of the companies were led by women last year.

 

The industry is slowly improving this imbalance, but there is serious pressure to address the issue, especially on biotech’s primary trade group, the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO).
