Yale creates Hugo to make it easier for patients to open EHRs up to researchers

Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Health System have unveiled a platform named Hugo, designed to make it easier for patients to access their electronic health records (EHRs) and share them with researchers.

While the healthcare system has access to this information, it’s difficult for an individual to access all of their personal information. Hugo will facilitate this process between the healthcare and research sectors. The platform will automatically update a patient’s EHR and, with the patient’s permission, the data can be synchronized with a research database. Hugo will also organize the data for the needs of the research team.

This concept narrows the gap between healthcare and research and will ease clinical trial enrollment and study participation.
