Fortune’s Most Powerful Women list stresses gender gap in pharma
Biopharma had only three representatives on Fortune’s Most Powerful Women list, highlighting the lack of gender diversity within the industry, especially at higher positions.
J&J’s Group Worldwide Chair Sandra Peterson and Company Group Chairman Jennifer Taubert ranked 22nd and 43rd, respectively, and Mylan’s CEO Heather Bresch ranked 23rd. However, Emma Walsmley, the first female to become CEO of a major drug company at GSK, wasn’t listed.
Fortune made the list based on the size and importance of the woman’s business globally, the health and direction of the business, the arc of the woman’s career, and her social and cultural influence.
